So, the little FB widgets are cool… they make socializing a website real easy, but I’ve run into some problems.

Problem one:

The Recommendations widget (pictured below, and in this sites side bar) seems to grab the last image on the page it is making a link to. Or no image at all…

So, how do I make it use the image I want it to for the thumbnail?

Nokia N8 TV ad – It’s not technology, it’s what you do with it.

So, yea.. pretty cool commercial for the Nokia N8. I specifically like the hamster powered phone charger and the virtual splattering of paint on a digital billboard.

Another super cool technology showcased in the commercial is the “CellScope” a tool for diagnosing malaria and other infectious diseases with a smartphone. Check out that video also:

This is what happens when newspapers go the way of the dinosaur and are replaced by devices like the iPad. …there’s a bit of a learning curve on what you can and in this case can not do with the new version of a newspaper. Watch the new commercial for the Newsday iPad app that was banned by Apple (apparently they don’t like things that are funny) and see what I mean:

NES Video Game Cartrage Durability – SOOOO much better than CDs

Through an awesome series of, not recommended, experiments, we see NES cartridges can take a massive amount of abuse before they have any problems. Why is everything on CDs now? they are so much less durable because of heat, scratches, microwaves.. lol. I know cds hold lots more data, but really we could make games on just as durable solid state hard drives for maybe a slightly higher cost, but them how would game companies make more money off selling you multiple copies of the same game cause your cat bit one?

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
